In a heartwarming gesture ahead of the festive season, the Kerala government has announced special Onam bonus for its employees.

The move aims to recognize their contributions and provide financial relief during the auspicious occasion of Onam.

Onam Bonus and Special Festival Allowance

As part of the Onam celebrations, the Kerala government has approved a bonus of Rs 4,000 for state sector employees. This bonus recognizes their hard work and dedication throughout the year.

The bonus will be granted to approximately 1.3 million employees across various government departments, including teachers, administrative staff, and other public servants.

For those employees who are not eligible for the bonus, the government has introduced a special festival allowance of Rs 2,750. This ensures that all employees, regardless of their eligibility, receive some form of financial assistance during the festive season.

In addition to the bonus, all government employees in the state will receive an Onam advance of ₹20,000.

Part-time and contingent staff will also benefit, receiving an advance of ₹6,000. Contract and scheme workers who received a festival allowance last year will continue to receive the same rate this year.

Pensioners and Welfare Funds

Pensioners under social security and welfare funds will receive two installments. An amount of ₹1,700 crore has been allocated for this purpose.

Over 62 lakh people will receive ₹3,200 each for Onam. The funds will be distributed directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts or through cooperative banks.

Employees can check their bonuses and allowances by reviewing their bank statements around the Onam period, as these amounts are generally credited directly to their accounts.
