According to a Skillsoft report, Nearly a third of women in tech (31%) are contemplating leaving due to poor management, insufficient training, and inadequate compensation.

According to Orla Daly, Chief Information Officer at Skillsoft, 85% of survey respondents note gender disparity in their team, while 38% express dissatisfaction with growth prospects. Daly warns of a tipping point, where attrition risks exacerbating the already substantial gender gap in the tech sector.

With increasing opportunities for women, leaders must offer deliberate support and cultivate essential skills to enable them to excel, lead effectively, and drive business growth, Daly added.

Skillsoft’s annual Women in Tech Report highlights a significant barrier for women in the technology careers: a deficiency in training, especially regarding emerging technologies such as generative AI (GenAI). While 41% express interest in learning about AI, 60% aren’t currently utilizing it at work.

Among those who do, 63% lack sufficient training and resources for integrating AI into their tasks. This underscores a critical need for comprehensive training initiatives to empower women in tech, enabling them to leverage cutting-edge technologies effectively and bridge the gap between interest and practical application in the workplace.

Orla Daly emphasizes the crucial role of women in AI, stating that their involvement and empowerment are vital for ensuring equitable and inclusive technology.

She highlights diversity as a driver of innovation, asserting that enhancing women’s AI skills can create more creative and fair business solutions. This underscores the importance of fostering an environment where women are empowered to contribute to AI development, ultimately advancing both innovation and inclusivity in the tech sector.
