India’s job market has witnessed a significant transformation over the past two years, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) roles experiencing a remarkable surge.

According to a recent report by Foundit Insights Tracker (FIT), AI jobs in India have increased by 42%, reaching a total of 2,53,000 positions.

This growth underscores the increasing importance of artificial intelligence skills in the country’s workforce and the broader economic landscape.

Growth in AI Job Market

The report highlights that AI job demand has grown significantly, driven by the rapid adoption of AI technologies across various sectors.

The top skills in demand include Python, AI/ML, data science, deep learning, SQL, and software development.

Specialized artificial intelligence frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch are also highly sought after by employers.

The surge in AI jobs is reflected across multiple sectors, with consumer electronics, manufacturing, and construction & engineering leading the charge.

These sectors have seen year-over-year growth rates of 60%, 57%, and 57%, respectively.

The growth in artificial intelligence roles is a testament to the resilience, adaptability, and dynamism of India’s job market.

The report also highlights regional trends, with cities like Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, and Hyderabad showing strong annual growth in AI job demand.

Coimbatore leads with a 58% year-over-year growth, while Mumbai tops the monthly growth in demand with an 11% increase.

Future Projections and Impact on Other Sectors

Looking ahead, the report projects a further 14% growth in AI hiring in 2025, indicating that AI is no longer a futuristic concept but a fundamental element of India’s present and future workforce.

This projected growth reflects the ongoing transformation of artificial intelligence skills from an important skill set to a core driver of the economy.

The growth in artificial intelligence jobs has also had a positive impact on other sectors, such as healthcare and HR.

Medical roles have experienced a 44% annual growth, driven by telemedicine, diagnostics, and specialized nursing.

HR and admin roles have seen a 21% rise in the last three months, highlighting the need for strategic workforce management and AI integration.
