Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s top IT company, is training 20,000 employees in Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI) every quarter to stay competitive in the fast-changing tech world.

Let’s explore this exciting initiative further!

Generative AI: The New Frontier

Generative AI, often referred to as GenAI, represents the intersection of artificial intelligence and creativity. It involves creating models that can generate new content—whether it’s images, text, or other forms—based on patterns learned from existing data.

As businesses increasingly adopt AI-driven solutions, GenAI skills are becoming essential for staying competitive.

Commitment by TCS

  • Scale and Momentum: Last year, TCS trained and certified about 42,000 employees in GenAI skills. Building on that momentum, the company aims to continue upskilling its workforce. The plan for this year is to add incrementally about 20,000 people trained and certified every quarter, ultimately crossing the 100,000 mark by the end of the fiscal year.
  • Strategic Importance: GenAI is not just a buzzword; it’s a strategic imperative. TCS recognizes that staying at the forefront of technology requires a workforce adept in emerging areas like generative AI. By investing in training, the company ensures that its employees remain relevant and capable of addressing client needs effectively.

The Road Ahead for Generative AI

Milind Lakkad, Chief HR Officer at TCS, emphasized the traction they are seeing in GenAI. He stated, “Our plan this year is to be able to continue that momentum, which typically means that every quarter we need to add incrementally about 20,000 people trained and certified so that at the end of the year, we will cross the 100,000 mark. So we are on course to do that.”

Conclusion

TCS’s focus on GenAI training shows its dedication to nurturing talent and staying ahead in the tech race. As the company trains nearly 20,000 employees each quarter, it reinforces its position as a global leader in IT services.
