Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) has partnered with TCS iON to launch a new online certificate programme in Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Chip Design, aimed at addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals in the semiconductor and electronics industries.

The registration window for the programme is now open and will close on September 30, 2025.

Offered through IIT-H’s Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), the course is designed to equip learners with both foundational and advanced competencies in analog and digital integrated circuit (IC) design.

The programme is particularly suited for engineering students, early-career professionals, and those seeking to transition into the VLSI domain.

TCS iON and IIT-H’s Programme Structure and Curriculum

The certification course spans 45 hours and will commence on October 8, 2025, concluding on November 29, 2025.

It includes over 40 hours of live, interactive sessions led by IIT-H faculty and industry experts.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with industry-grade Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools such as Cadence and LTSpice.

The curriculum covers:

  • Analog Chip Design fundamentals, including current mirrors and operational amplifiers
  • Digital IC Design, focusing on simulation and verification of digital circuits
  • Real-world projects and mentorship from faculty and practitioners

IIT-H will host an optional one-week bootcamp at its campus for immersive lab training.

This bootcamp, priced at ₹9,440, offers participants direct access to lab facilities and guided sessions with faculty members.

Faculty and Academic Leadership

The programme is led by a team of experienced faculty members from IIT-H, including:

  • Prof. Ashudeb Dutta (Electrical Engineering)
  • Dr. C.H. Gajendranath Chaudhury (Electrical Engineering)
  • Dr. Abhishek Kumar (Electrical Engineering)
  • Dr. Rajesh Kedia (Computer Science and Engineering)
  • Dr. Kapil Jainwal (Electrical Engineering)

Prof. B.S. Murty, Director of IIT-H, emphasized the programme’s relevance: “This initiative bridges the gap between academic learning and industry requirements.”

He added, “It is a step toward building a robust talent pipeline for India’s semiconductor ecosystem”.

Prof. Amirtham Rajagopal, Chair of the Centre for Continuing Education, added, “We are committed to delivering high-impact, application-oriented learning experiences that prepare professionals for real-world challenges.”

Eligibility and Career Pathways

The programme is open to:

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate students in electronics or related fields
  • Junior and mid-career professionals seeking upskilling or career advancement
  • Individuals interested in research or entrepreneurship in VLSI design

The course fee is ₹14,160, inclusive of taxes, with no-cost EMI options available.

Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion, which can serve as a credential for roles in chip design, verification, and semiconductor R&D.
