Cure.fit announces its parental-leave policy

Many companies are now providing parental leave to their employees. Now, an integrative health app, Cure.fit has announced its gender-neutral parental leave program for employees. 

The Tata-backed, Cure.fit program will also include non-binary parents. Curefit has holistic health offerings across physical fitness and workouts, healthy food, and mental well-being. The company currently employees employs about 3,500 people.

Ankit Gupta, head of product & engineering at cure.fit said on the company’s page, “One of the core values at cure.fit (cult.fit) is ‘doing the right thing’.”

“In an era, where we’re collectively on a journey to remove labels and enable all individuals to discover their best selves and #BeBetterEveryday, this program organically seemed like the right thing to do”, Ankit Gupta added.

The company said in a statement, “This is an update on the existing maternity and paternity policy of six months and would further expand the programme to cover non-binary parents.”

The benefits of these parental leave programme for employees include:

This break is a paid leave of six months. Further, the benefits include flexible working models in case any employee wishes for a longer break.

This benefit can be availed by those who are opting for parenthood through natural birth, surrogacy, or adoption, regardless of their gender.

There are monthly check-ins by the team and project members, should the employee choose to get updates on their projects.

The benefits are designed in a manner to provide an option for the employee to be engaged with the organization during the break and smoothen the learning curve on their return.

As per the new Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017 (“Amendment Act”), the Maternity leave available to working women has been increased from 12 weeks to 26 weeks for the first two children. Besides, provisions relating to work-from-home and crèche facilities have been introduced in the Amendment Act.
