Intel plans to sell the Bengaluru office

According to reports, an American multinational corporation and technology company, Intel is planning to sell its 2,50,000 square feet Bengaluru office as the company adopts a hybrid-first work model.

Intel plans to continue operating in a “hybrid-first” model. Earlier, in 2021 the company announced the “Hybrid-first” model amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

The deal is expected to exceed ₹450 crores. It will be a sales-cum-lease model for three years.

A spokesperson said, “As a hybrid-first company, we are continuing to assess and optimize our space utilization to create more vibrant workspaces for our employees when they are on-site, while also achieving cost reductions.”

“As such, we will be consolidating certain offices in Bengaluru which city remains an important design and engineering centre for Intel, with approximately 14,000 employees based in the region”, the spokesperson added.

However, most IT companies in India are looking forward to Work from Office.

Accenture launched new centers in Jaipur, Coimbatore, and Indore and has told employees that they could work from these cities at their convenience.

Recently, IT and consulting giant, Accenture has also instructed the Team Leaders and Managers to ensure their respective team members are working from their base locations by August 31, 2023.

In a Nasscom Technology and Leadership Summit 2023, Wipro chairman Rishad Premji said that he wants employees to return to workplaces and get over the work-from-home mindset. Premji also believes that hybrid work is the future for most workplaces.

TCS, India’s largest software services company asked employees to comply with the company’s WFO policies and work at least 12 days a month/ 3 days a week from office.

Recently IBM CEO Arvind Krishna warned employees and said that return to office or lose career opportunities. Remote work can hurt the career prospects of employees, especially in managerial roles. 

If you aspire to lead roles would face difficulties in getting promoted, especially to managerial positions, he added.
